She Leads America Gala 2022

On the evening of September 30th, was the 2nd Annual She Leads America gala at the amazing Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC.  180 women (and men) from across the United States came to honor 10 Christian Women of Distinction including Elsa Prince Broekhuizen , Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, Baton Rouge, LA , Kathleen Cooke , Libia Duran  , Nancy “Honeytree” Miller , Dr. Madeline Manning Mims OLY, Dr. Carol Swain, Attorney General Lynn Fitch, Governor Kristi Noem, Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears.

We had beautiful worship led by Chad and Rachel Dohring, Dr. Madeline Manning Mims and Honeytree! The Michigan based Modern Messages Dance company traveled to DC to minister with us in dance. It was so encouraging to see these teenage girls worshipping the Lord.

Another highlight was the men, mostly our husbands led by Rev. Syd Doyle, prayed and commissioned the women at the event, releasing them into their callings and praying for healing in any areas the women may have been hurt and held back.  The women who are considering launching chapters in their states, were also anointed with oil and prayed for.

Our final day in DC was a wet one.  We had planned to have a prayer concert in front of the Supreme Court. We made a decision to move our event to the ballroom of our hotel. In the “Capitol” room we prayed and made declarations around life. We have all the prayers and events on video that we will be airing on the She Speaks program when we begin them again in the new year.

We wanted to make the most of our time together and were able to secure 2 rooms in the Museum of the Bible - one to introduce She Leads to potential leaders in new states and the other to bring leaders of pro life leaders together across the nation, to begin the discussion around women supporting women in a post Roe America. Promoting life from the womb to the tomb and beyond was a constant theme running throughout the She Leads America events. A generous donation gave us the opportunity to sponsor an informal luncheon with over 20 different pro-life organizations in attendance.  She Leads recognizes the need to bring these various groups together to collaborate and support each other in our post Roe culture.

Presenters included:  Dr. Alveda King, Speak For Life; Tina Whittington, Executive Vice President with Students For Life; Broadcaster Mercedes Schlapp; Chaney Mullins Gooley program director at Susan B Anthony pro- life America with Her Plan; Kelly Lester: ProLove And Then There Were None.  Katie Mahoney with the Stanton Public Policy Center as well as a wellness coach, gave a compelling presentation about the abortion pill and ending chemical abortions. Be sure to check out these organizations if you are not familiar with them.  All of She Leads collaboration ignites and accelerates creativity bringing faith-based solutions to modern day challenges.

Heidi Scheer crowned Mrs Universe.

She Leads America excited to introduce more "She Leads" state chapters.

Welcoming Pastor Kimberly Dirmann to She Leads America

Heidi Scheer first joined She Leads Michigan as Mrs. USA after finishing her reign as Mrs. Michigan. We have journeyed with her as she wore that crown for two years during Covid , won the Mrs. Worldwide competition and now Mrs. Universe TCP. We are proud of her!

She is an Autism Health Advocate of 16 years and the owner of a health and wellness company that serves the autism community worldwide. Heidi is a published author, international speaker, and has united autism organizations in the US, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands.

She is the creator of an organic non-GMO energy bar that has raised funds for autism families in the US and Australia, and has co-written and produced an autism film that has been viewed around the world.

The platform-based pageant allowed Scheer to champion her cause: “Treating the Puzzle of Autism.” Her son Gannon was diagnosed with autism just before his fourth birthday, and was non-verbal. Scheer says she was given no hope, and was told by doctors that Gannon “may never speak a sentence, may never have friends, may never be in general education, he may never tell you that he loves you.”

By age 11, after countless therapies and protocols, Gannon no longer qualified for the clinical diagnosis of autism. Last year, Gannon entered Indiana University. Since her son’s diagnosis, Scheer has become an advocate for treatment and recovery. Pageants, she says, are a way for her to share her story of hope.

“So many parents are given no hope. They’re basically given a diagnosis and told to get speech therapy. To me, this pageant is an opportunity to help others. It’s truly a vehicle for me to help others help their children,” she said. “All this training and experience in pageantry, it’s going to serve me now to help others.”

On September 30 we launched the “Women on the Hill” Appreciation Breakfast with an amazing group of 120 Christian women in leadership from across America filling a banqueting suite in the Rayburn Office Building on “The Hill”. A complimentary Continental Breakfast was served followed by comments from our special guests including the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, Rev. Dr. Margaret Kibben and Dr. Alveda King.

We are very grateful to Congresswoman Lisa McClain for chairing this event focused on appreciating Christian women of influence, praying for them and listening to everyone’s thoughts and prayer requests. Congresswoman McClain introduced She Leads America’s 10 Christian Women of Distinction for 2022 and presented them with copies of the Congressional Record where their accomplishments were recorded. We recognized Congresswoman McClain and Congresswoman Dr. Virginia Foxx as Legislators of the year. Congresswoman Foxx was very moved and deeply encouraged by the recognition. We had a powerful time of prayer before we concluded and made our way to the Bible Museum for a guided tour and special lunch time meetings.
